In short: In July 2026 none of the AI engines tested cited Lens & Co by Tiara, a young Lagos eyewear store, while four competitors were named. About two weeks after it began publishing one focused page for every question a buyer asks, ChatGPT listed it first in 5 of the 6 answers captured, Google’s AI Overviews named it in all 6, and it sat on page one of Google Nigeria for all four searches tracked. The store’s own WooCommerce list now shows orders arriving from ChatGPT. Every claim below is dated, sourced and caveated, including the one answer where ChatGPT put another business first.

Lens & Co by Tiara sells blue light, photochromic and photochromic blue-cut glasses online to buyers across Nigeria, with a shop in Ogba, Lagos. Its site is young: content began going live on 27 September 2026 and most of it was published by 8 October. This case study sets out what was built, what ChatGPT, Google and Claude now say about the store, what its own analytics and orders show, and how the same method can be applied to another business.
Every figure comes from a live check made between 10 and 12 October 2026, taken from Google, ChatGPT, the AmasoAI dashboard, Google Analytics or the store’s admin. Anything that could not be verified is labelled as such.
Key takeaways
- ChatGPT: Lens & Co by Tiara was listed first in 5 of 6 answers, across five kinds of buyer question: best stores, original rather than fake, prescription, nationwide delivery and best online stores in Lagos. In a sixth answer, about eye strain, it came second behind an eye clinic.
- Google AI Overviews: named in 6 of 6 searches checked and named first in 4. Its own pages appeared as source cards in 5 of them, and one overview recommended individual frames by name, with lens width and bridge size taken from the store’s guide.
- Google search: page one for all four tracked searches, at 5th, 4th, 5th and 4th, plus a local listing at 5.0 stars from 63 reviews.
- Claude: cited in 8 of 38 checks since 29 September, almost all on the keyword “blue light glasses” (21%).
- Traffic quality: in the 28 days to 11 October, 26 of the store’s 1,104 GA4 sessions came from AI assistants. They engaged at 50% against 41.58% for all traffic and stayed 1 minute 53 seconds against 56 seconds.
- Orders: in the store’s WooCommerce list, 2 of the 9 most recent orders have an origin of chatgpt.com. One is processing. The other shows as cancelled because payment would not go through at checkout, and the founder says that buyer completed the order on WhatsApp. That is attribution, not a revenue figure.
- Content: 54 published pages and 104 published products, each tracked search mapped to one target page.
- Still open: every AI capture is a single run from a signed-in account, so personalisation cannot be ruled out; the prompts are those run for this study, not a random sample; Perplexity and Gemini have not been checked; and order data covers only a few days.

The headline is speed and breadth. A young site is on page one of Google for the searches that matter most, and two AI engines name it across very different buyer questions. Traffic and orders are still early, and the sections below say exactly how early.
How should you read the numbers?
- AI answers are single runs. ChatGPT and Google can answer the same prompt differently tomorrow. Each screenshot is one answer, captured on 10 or 12 October 2026.
- The new captures were made while signed in. The ChatGPT prompts were run from a signed-in account whose history included other eyewear research, and the Google AI Overviews from a signed-in Google account with the location set to Lagos. Personalisation may nudge results, so a logged-out test by several people is the next step.
- The prompts are not a random sample. They are the questions run for this study. They show what the store can earn, not how often it earns it.
- Google positions are web results counted from the top, not counting the map pack or People Also Ask boxes. They were read from a signed-out browser with the country set to Nigeria on 10 October.
- AmasoAI figures come from a 90-day window and cover Claude only so far. WordPress counts come from the admin on 10 October 2026.
- Not verified: citations by Perplexity and Gemini, and any ChatGPT or Google answer beyond the twelve shown here.
What was the starting point?
Lens & Co by Tiara is not an optician. It partners with opticians and concentrates on one job: glasses for people who spend their day on screens and their afternoons in the sun. The homepage promise is direct: find glasses that fit your face, your prescription and your day. The offer is built around three lens choices.
| Lens | What it does | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Anti-Blue Light | Filters screen light, clear indoors and at night | Work, study and late-night scrolling |
| Photochromic | Clear inside, darkens in the sun, UV400 protection | Time outdoors |
| Photochromic Blue Cut | Filters screen light and darkens in the sun | All day, indoors and out |
Frames start from ₦10,000. Ready lenses are delivered in 24 to 48 hours in Lagos and in 3 to 7 working days elsewhere, to all 36 states. Shoppers can try frames on with their own photo, find their face shape, upload a prescription or ask for help on WhatsApp.
The site was rebuilt for this push. It moved to WooCommerce on a custom-built theme, with products imported from a WooCommerce CSV, Paystack for payments and the domain lensandcobytiara.com repointed to the new build. The search problem was clear. Anyone searching for screen glasses in Lagos met marketplaces, Instagram sellers and a handful of direct-to-consumer eyewear brands. A newcomer needed pages that answered each buying question better than a product grid could, and that were easy for both Google and AI tools to read and quote.
How visible was the store before the work? A check in July 2026 found that none of the AI engines tested cited Lens & Co by Tiara, while four competitors were named. That qualitative check is the only before-picture, because no numeric baseline score was recorded.
What does ChatGPT say when buyers ask six different questions?
A shopper does not ask one question. They ask whether a seller is genuine, whether prescription lenses are possible, who delivers to their city and which store is best. So the test used a different question for each kind of doubt. Lens & Co by Tiara was listed first in five of the six answers. The first was captured on 10 October 2026 and the other five on 12 October.
| Buyer question | Lens & Co by Tiara was | ChatGPT said it was best for |
|---|---|---|
| best stores to buy blue light and photochromic glasses in nigeria (10 Oct) | 1st of 5 stores | “Best overall for both lens types” |
| Where can I buy original blue light glasses, not fake ones, in Nigeria? | 1st listed | Affordable blue-light glasses with nationwide delivery |
| Blue light glasses with prescription in Nigeria | 1st of 3 | Affordable, customised prescription glasses |
| Which store delivers blue light glasses nationwide in Nigeria? | 1st of 3 online stores | Blue light glasses, photochromic lenses and prescription options |
| Best online eyewear stores in lagos | 1st listed | Blue-light glasses, photochromic lenses and affordable everyday eyewear |
| Eye strain from computer use (prompt out of frame) | 2nd, behind an eye clinic | An option to explore frames and ask about blue-light lenses |
“Where can I buy original blue light glasses, not fake ones, in Nigeria?”
This is the trust question, and in Nigeria it is the one that decides many purchases. ChatGPT put Lens & Co by Tiara first, as best for affordable blue-light glasses with nationwide delivery, and gave its Ogba address, a price range of about ₦10,000 to ₦49,500 and four product types. The store’s WhatsApp number appears in the original answer and is blurred here.

“Blue light glasses with prescription in Nigeria”
ChatGPT first advised buying from an optical store that can fit the exact prescription, then listed three places. Lens & Co by Tiara came first, as best for affordable, customised prescription glasses, with prescription lenses through partner opticians, an online prescription upload and a WhatsApp check of the details before payment. Mint Eyewear was second.

“Which store delivers blue light glasses nationwide in Nigeria?”
Here ChatGPT listed three online stores and put Lens & Co by Tiara first. It quoted delivery in 24 to 48 hours in Lagos and typically 3 to 7 working days in other states after production, and named the virtual try-on, a protective case and a cleaning cloth as extras. It linked to the store’s blue light glasses category. BaaWA Accessories was second. The bracketed “turn0search” text after the link is ChatGPT’s own citation marker, shown as raw text in this session.

“Best online eyewear stores in lagos”
For the broadest question, ChatGPT listed Lens & Co by Tiara first under “best eyewear stores to consider”, ahead of House of Lunettes. It described the store as an online eyewear brand with a physical shop in Ogba and gave the virtual try-on as a reason to choose it. This capture was taken in ChatGPT’s dark mode.

The answer where it came second
A sixth answer, about eye strain from computer use, is included because a case study that shows only first places is not evidence. ChatGPT advised an eye test before spending money on either type of glasses and listed SpecSMART Eye Clinic in Ikeja first. Lens & Co by Tiara came second, described as an option to explore frames and ask about blue-light lenses, including prescription options. The prompt is out of frame in the screenshot, so the card below transcribes only what is visible.

Listed second
What did ChatGPT repeat from the store’s own site?
Across the six answers, ChatGPT repeated facts that appear on the store’s own pages. That is the clearest sign the site is being read and quoted, not merely listed.
| What ChatGPT said | What the store’s site says |
|---|---|
| Delivery in 24 to 48 hours in Lagos, typically 3 to 7 working days in other states | Ready lenses delivered in 24 to 48 hours in Lagos and in 3 to 7 working days elsewhere, to all 36 states |
| Virtual try-on using your photo | Try frames on with your own photo |
| Prescription lenses through partner opticians; upload your prescription online | Partners with opticians for prescriptions; shoppers can upload a prescription or ask for help on WhatsApp |
| Anti-blue-light, photochromic and photochromic blue-cut lenses | The three lens choices on the homepage, plus prescription |
| Prices from ₦10,000 | Frames from ₦10,000 |
| A physical store at Goldrim Plaza, Yaya Abatan Road | The shop address on the Google listing, GoldRim Plaza, Yaya Abatan Rd |
Prices are the one place the answers drift. The floor is consistent at ₦10,000, but the figure beside it changes with the frame and lens: about ₦14,000 in the first answer and a range up to ₦49,500 in another. A single price page that states the frame-only price and the usual frame-plus-lens price would give every engine the same number to quote.
What do Google’s AI Overviews say about Lens & Co?
Google’s AI Overview sits above the ten blue links, so for many searches it is the first thing a shopper reads. Six searches were checked. Lens & Co by Tiara was named in all six and named first in four, and its own pages appeared as source cards in five of them. Google also did something a plain ranking never does: it recommended individual frames. The first overview was captured on 10 October 2026 and the other five on 12 October.
| Search | Lens & Co by Tiara was | What Google used |
|---|---|---|

What stands out in Google’s answers?
- Google recommended frames, not just a shop. It named ANCHOR and KYRIE and quoted lens width and bridge size. The source card shows the same figures from the store’s own “10 Frames for Work & Study” guide. Specifications written as plain text get lifted.
- New pages were picked up fast. Google’s source cards date the Lens & Co pages it cites 27 September, 4 October and 11 October 2026, so a page dated the day before the screenshots was already a source.
- Honest pages earn the citation. On the two worried-buyer searches, the statements cited to Lens & Co include that blue light glasses are not a medical cure and that blurry vision needs a prescription lens. A store that tells buyers when they do not need its product is easier to trust, for people and for machines.
- Google is not always generous. For “where to get screen glasses” the store is third in the list behind two rivals, even though its page is the first source card. Being the source and being first are different prizes.
This matches what Google says about its own AI features: there are no special requirements beyond being indexed and eligible to show with a snippet, so the groundwork is ordinary good SEO. The difference is the shape of the content, which is why the pages below were built to answer one question each.
Which competitors does it now outrank on Google?
The table shows where Lens & Co sat on Google on 10 October 2026 for the four searches checked, all on page one, and who sat above and below it.
| Search | Lens & Co | Ahead of Lens & Co | Behind Lens & Co |
|---|---|---|---|
| blue light glasses in Lagos | 5th | Instagram sellers @wiremyshades, Grok Brand, Jiji and Jumia | Mint Eyewear (Instagram, then site), AllMart Nigeria, Emperr |
| screen glasses in Lagos | 4th | Jumia, Mint Eyewear, Jiji | Grok Brand, BaaWA, Instagram seller specsbymo, Konga |
| photochromic glasses price in Nigeria | 5th | Jumia, Jiji, Grok Brand, gifted clothing | Emperr, a Facebook seller, Jiji (Oshodi listing), BaaWA |
| where to get photochromic glasses in Nigeria | 4th | Jumia, Jiji, Emperr, Instagram seller lenses.ng | Mint Eyewear, Grok Brand, BaaWA, giftedclothings |
Three groups share these results:
- Marketplaces. Jumia and Jiji hold top positions on the searches checked, and Konga appears on the screen glasses search. They win on breadth and domain strength.
- Direct-to-consumer eyewear brands. Mint Eyewear, Grok Brand, BaaWA, Emperr and AllMart Nigeria are the stores Lens & Co is actually competing with for the buyer who wants a brand rather than a listing.
- Social sellers. Instagram and Facebook sellers such as Wiremyshades, Specsbymo and Lenses.ng rank because of follower counts, but their pages say little about lenses, delivery or returns.
Lens & Co now ranks above several brands in the second group and above social sellers on two of the searches. Mint Eyewear is the closest brand rival: it is ahead on screen glasses in Lagos (2nd against 4th) and behind on blue light glasses in Lagos (6th and 9th against 5th) and on “where to get photochromic glasses in Nigeria”. The clearest gap is the marketplaces: Jumia and Jiji sit above Lens & Co on all four searches, which is where the next gains are.
The map results add a second view. For blue light glasses in Lagos, Google showed a Top Stores and Clinics module that listed Lens & Co. by Tiara at 5.0 stars from 63 reviews. Other Lagos sellers in the local packs included House Of Lunettes (4.8 from 485 reviews), Poshkollect (4.2 from 116) and SmileyShades NG (4.8 from 55).

What does Claude say about Lens & Co?
Since 29 September, AmasoAI has recorded 38 citation checks against Claude. Lens & Co was cited in 8 of them, a 21.1% sampled citation rate. However, nearly all of those checks used one keyword, “blue light glasses”. Across the full list of 55 tracked searches, only 1 earned at least one citation in the last 30 days. So the result is real but narrow. It proves the store can be cited. It does not yet show broad coverage.

- Two AI-referred requests in 30 days. Both came from ChatGPT. The count is small, but it is the first sign that an AI assistant sent visitors to the site.
- This week’s rate is lower than last week’s. It fell from 4 of 13 (31%) to 4 of 25 (16%) because more checks ran, not because fewer citations landed. The count stayed at 4.
- Only Claude has data. The only AI connected through MCP was a Claude Max account. The scheduled ChatGPT and Gemini checks did not run, because the OpenAI account had no credits left and the Gemini model name was out of date. Perplexity is not configured.

AmasoAI also logged which sites Claude consulted during those checks.
| Site | Times consulted |
|---|---|
| Jumia | 27 |
| BaaWA | 8 |
| U-Buy | 8 |
| Jiji | 7 |
| Grok Brand | 6 |
| AllMart Nigeria | 5 |
| Lens & Co by Tiara | 5 |
| Mint Eyewear | 1 |
Two points stand out. Marketplaces still dominate what Claude reads. And Lens & Co already appears ahead of Mint Eyewear in this list, with 5 mentions against 1. The gap to Jumia is large, so the next gains will come from more pages that answer specific buying questions.
Is ChatGPT actually sending orders to Lens & Co?
Rankings and citations are only the first half of the story. The question a store owner cares about is whether anyone buys. On 12 October 2026 the store supplied a screenshot of its WooCommerce orders list, and it contains the first direct evidence: two of the nine most recent orders carry an origin of Source: Chatgpt.com.

Here is every order in the screenshot, with names and values removed:
| Order | When | Status | Origin recorded by WooCommerce |
|---|---|---|---|
| #3230 | 1 hour before the screenshot | Processing | Referral: Instagram |
| #3229 | 2 hours before | Processing | Source: Chatgpt.com |
| #3228 | 5 hours before | Cancelled (checkout payment problem; completed on WhatsApp, per the founder) | Source: Chatgpt.com |
| #3208 | 10 Oct 2026 | Cancelled | Direct |
| #3190 | 9 Oct 2026 | Processing | Direct |
| #3188 | 9 Oct 2026 | Completed | Direct |
| #3139 | 8 Oct 2026 | Processing | Source: Facebook |
| #3138 | 8 Oct 2026 | Processing | Direct |
| #3137 | 7 Oct 2026 | Cancelled | Direct |
By origin, that is two orders from ChatGPT, five direct, one from Facebook and one from an Instagram link. One of the two ChatGPT orders is an active sale. The other shows as cancelled in WooCommerce, but the store’s founder says the buyer completed it on WhatsApp after payment would not go through. Here is the founder’s account, sent on 12 October 2026:
“We got another order from ChatGPT this morning, and the one that cancelled completed the order via WhatsApp. He said he didn’t know why payment did not go through when he was trying to checkout.”
That explains the status: the cancellation was a payment failure at checkout, not a lost customer. The founder also mentions another ChatGPT order that morning. I have counted only the orders visible in the screenshot, so if that order is a further one, the true count is higher.
What does “Source: Chatgpt.com” actually mean?
WooCommerce’s order attribution feature records where the visit that led to an order came from, using a last-click model. “Direct” means no identifiable origin, “Referral” means another website sent the visitor, and “Source” means the visit carried a UTM tag. ChatGPT often adds the tag utm_source=chatgpt.com to links it shows, which is why these two orders are labelled as they are. Seer Interactive explains that ChatGPT does not always add the tag, so some ChatGPT visits are recorded as Direct. An order finished on WhatsApp may not carry its original source either. The count of ChatGPT orders is therefore a floor, not a ceiling, although you cannot assume any particular Direct order came from ChatGPT.
What does this show, and what comes next?
- It shows a working path from ChatGPT to a sale. At least two shoppers reached the store through a ChatGPT link within a few hours, and both went on to buy. One paid through checkout and is awaiting fulfilment. The other, according to the founder, completed the order on WhatsApp after a checkout payment problem.
- It completes the chain. AmasoAI logged two ChatGPT-referred requests in the 30 days to 10 October, and the store was already first of five in ChatGPT’s answer. Now ChatGPT-labelled orders are appearing, so the store has moved from being named to being bought from.
- It shows buyers stay with the purchase. A shopper who hit a payment problem did not walk away. They finished the order on WhatsApp, which is a good sign about the quality of the visitors ChatGPT is sending.
- It gives the store a number to grow. With order attribution switched on, the store can count ChatGPT orders every week and watch the figure rise as more pages earn citations. The window is still young, a few days of orders, so ChatGPT’s share of revenue will become clearer as the data builds.
- It sits alongside the store’s own report of more website visits, more walk-in clients and a jump in organic revenue. The analytics below now put numbers on the visits.
How can you track ChatGPT orders in your own store?
- Turn on WooCommerce order attribution and check that the Origin column appears in your orders list.
- Count orders by origin every week, and record ChatGPT, other AI assistants, Google, social and direct separately.
- Compare cancellation and completion rates by origin once you have a few dozen orders, not nine.
- Note the original source when an order is finished on WhatsApp or by phone, because those orders will not show it in WooCommerce. Watch payment failures too, since they turn good leads into cancelled orders.
- In Google Analytics 4, look for a source of chatgpt.com, and expect some AI visits to hide in Direct.
- Pair it with the monthly prompt test in how to check what ChatGPT says about your business, so a rise in orders can be matched to a change in the answers.
How do visitors from AI assistants behave on the store?
Orders are the end of the story. The start is the visit, and Google Analytics 4 now gives AI assistants a channel of their own. Since May 2026 GA4 has had a default channel group called AI Assistant that groups visits from tools such as ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude. The store’s traffic acquisition report (it opens in Google Analytics and needs access to the store’s account) covers the 28 days to 11 October 2026. Sessions in it begin on 1 October, so this window is effectively the first eleven days of tracking on the rebuilt site.

50%

Of the 1,104 sessions, 26 came from AI assistants. After about eleven days of tracking, that is already more than a quarter of the 95 sessions from organic search.
Sessions by channel, 14 September to 11 October 2026
Do visitors from AI engage more than average?
On the numbers so far, yes. Half of the AI assistant sessions (13 of 26) were engaged, against 41.58% for the whole site. Those visitors stayed an average of 1 minute 53 seconds, twice the 56-second site average, and triggered 11.08 events per session against 7.50.
| Channel | Sessions | Engagement rate | Average engagement time | Events per session |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Organic Search | 95 | 65.26% | 1m 21s | 12.27 |
| Organic Social | 105 | 55.24% | 3m 26s | 16.83 |
| AI Assistant | 26 | 50% | 1m 53s | 11.08 |
| Direct | 394 | 46.7% | 50s | 7.23 |
| All traffic | 1,104 | 41.58% | 56s | 7.50 |
| Paid Social | 464 | 29.53% | 14s | 4.07 |
Read across the table. AI visitors engage better than the store’s biggest source of traffic, paid social, which brought 42% of sessions at a 29.53% engagement rate and 14 seconds a visit. They also engage better than direct visitors. Only organic search and organic social, where people searched for or followed the brand, engage more. That fits what you would expect from a recommendation: shoppers arrive with intent.
Did the orders follow the visits?
They did. By the end of 11 October the AI Assistant channel had 26 sessions and no recorded key events or revenue yet. The first two orders labelled chatgpt.com appeared in WooCommerce on the morning of 12 October. The visits came first and the orders followed. Twenty-six sessions is a small base, so the percentages will move as volume grows. GA4 also classifies a visit as AI Assistant only when it can detect the referrer, so some AI visits can still land in Direct, which is the same caution Seer Interactive gives for ChatGPT traffic.
What are shoppers doing once they arrive?
Google Site Kit, in the store’s WordPress admin, shows the same pattern from another angle. By 12 October it counted 1,128 sessions, a 40.7% engagement rate and 13 add-to-cart events, so shoppers are not just landing, they are putting products in the basket. Tracking began on 1 October, which makes these figures a baseline. Next month’s report can show how the AI Assistant channel, the orders labelled chatgpt.com and the add-to-cart count move as more pages earn citations.

What was the strategy: one search, one page?
The plan rested on a simple rule. Every search a buyer might type gets one page that answers it, and no two pages compete for the same search. A shopper asking where to buy blue light glasses in Lagos has a different need from one asking whether photochromic lenses are worth it, so each question got its own destination, and each destination links to the others. That rule shaped three decisions:
- Answer first. Each guide was designed to lead with a direct answer, then add detail. Google can lift that opening as a snippet, and an AI tool can quote it without rewriting.
- Category pages for buying intent and guides for questions. Searches like “blue light glasses Lagos” point at the category page, where a shopper can buy. Searches like “what are photochromic glasses” point to a guide, which links back to the category.
- Local and trust pages. Nigerian buyers worry about fakes and about delivery, so dedicated pages cover how to tell if blue light glasses are real, anti-radiation glasses in Nigeria and city guides for Abuja, Ibadan and Port Harcourt.
What was built?
| Asset | Count |
|---|---|
| Published pages | 54 |
| Published products | 104 |
| Total product records (including 37 private and 1 draft) | 142 |
| Product categories | 17 |
| Buying guides under /guides/ | More than 20 |
| Searches tracked in AmasoAI | 55 |
Each tracked search was mapped to one target page.
| Search | Target page |
|---|---|
| Blue light glasses Lagos | Anti blue light glasses category |
| Where can I get blue light glasses in Lagos? What is the price of blue light glasses in Nigeria? | Where to buy blue light glasses in Lagos |
| Buy screen glasses in Nigeria | Screen glasses guide |
| anti-blue | Screen glasses |
| Photochromic glasses meaning, photochromic glasses for men, I want photochromic | Photochromic glasses category |
| Photochromic blue-cut glasses in Nigeria | Photochromic blue cut category |
| Transition glasses in Nigeria | Photochromic glasses guide |
| Blue light and photochromic glasses in Lagos | Photochromic vs blue cut lenses |
| Eye strain and headache searches | Eye strain from screens |
| Trust and fake-glasses searches | How to tell if blue light glasses are real and Anti radiation glasses in Nigeria |
| Prescription searches | Upload prescription and Prescription glasses |
| Laptop stands | Laptop stands |
Conversion tools sit beside the content. They include an AI try-on plugin, a face shape finder, prescription upload, Paystack checkout and WhatsApp support. They do not drive rankings directly, but they decide what happens once a shopper lands.
How was it done?
The work ran as a loop of four steps, repeated for each cluster of searches.
- Find the real searches. Start from what Nigerian buyers type: blue light glasses in Lagos, screen glasses, anti-blue ray, photochromic glasses and transition glasses, and the price and trust variants of each. These became the 55 tracked searches.
- Assign one page to each. Check whether a page exists. If not, write it. If two pages overlap, keep one as the main answer and link the other to it.
- Publish and link. Each guide links to the relevant category and to its sibling guides. Each category links back to the guide that explains the choice. This internal linking lets a reader, a crawler and an AI tool move through the topic.
- Measure and repeat. Check where the store ranks, which sources AI tools consult and which searches still lack an answer.
Content began going live on 27 September 2026 and most of it was published by 8 October, which is why this case study treats the results as early.
Why do these pages get quoted?
The following is analysis, not measured fact. Still, twelve AI answers point to six habits that help a small store appear in them.
- Answer the doubt, not just the product. Is it original? Do I need a prescription? Will it reach my state? Both ChatGPT and Google answered with pages built for those exact doubts.
- State the facts plainly. Delivery windows, the price floor and lens types sit in short, direct sentences, and ChatGPT repeated them almost word for word.
- Put specifications in text. Lens width, bridge size and starting prices are what Google lifted when it recommended ANCHOR and KYRIE.
- Keep one story across pages. Delivery, try-on and prescription details match everywhere, so a model finds the same answer wherever it looks. The one answer that gave a different area name shows what an inconsistency costs.
- Match the page to the question. One page per search means the model never has to choose between two weak answers.
- Back it with real-world proof. A 5.0 rating from 63 reviews and a physical address give AI tools something to cross-check, and Google showed that rating inside its answer.
What role did AmasoAI play?
AmasoAI is the measurement and planning layer. For this project it did four things that show up in its data. Disclosure: I work in growth for AmasoAI, which is operated by Fosia Ltd.
- Tracked 55 searches, each mapped to the page meant to answer it, which gives a clear list of which searches have a page and which do not.
- Scored the site for AI readiness. The GEO score is 83, with completeness at 75. The gap between the two shows where the next fixes sit.
- Ran citation checks against Claude. Lens & Co was cited in 8 of 38 checks since 29 September, or 21%.
- Showed which sources AI tools lean on, which is how the Claude source table above was built.
AmasoAI did not write the shop, set prices or run the store. It showed where to look and what to build next.
I reviewed the tool itself, with its pricing, setup problems and alternatives, in AmasoAI review: is this AI visibility score tool worth it?
What does the data not show yet?
This case study does not claim a before-and-after surge, or that ChatGPT produced all the traffic and sales shown. It reports what the store’s dashboards and screenshots show. Here is what is missing.
- Sampling and personalisation. Each AI answer is one run, from a signed-in account, for a prompt chosen for this study. Twelve answers that name the store show it can win these questions. They do not show how often it wins them for every shopper.
- Cause. The work and the results arrived together, but nothing here proves which page caused which mention. Google says its AI features have no special requirements beyond normal search eligibility.
- History. A July 2026 check found no AI engine citing the store, but no numeric baseline was recorded. GA4 begins recording sessions on 1 October 2026, so there is no earlier period to compare. AmasoAI also had difficulty reading the site’s sitemap, so its Google position data is blank.
- Perplexity and Gemini. Perplexity is not configured in AmasoAI and Gemini’s scheduled checks failed because the model name is out of date. They need to be run by hand.
- ChatGPT over time. The scheduled ChatGPT checks failed because the OpenAI account ran out of credits, so there is no history yet.
- Sales. The order list covers a few days and shows attribution. Individual order values and customer names are hidden, and the store’s sales totals are not published. The WhatsApp completion of the cancelled order, and the extra ChatGPT order mentioned that morning, come from the founder and are not visible in the WooCommerce screenshot.
To close these gaps, repeat the twelve prompts in a logged-out or private window, from more than one person and location, every week for eight weeks. Record each answer with the date, fix the sitemap read problem so AmasoAI can show Google position data, and keep order attribution switched on. My method is in how to check what ChatGPT says about your business.
What are the lessons?
- Answer the buyer’s doubt. The questions that won were about trust, prescription and delivery, not just “best glasses”.
- Focus buys speed. A tight topic with one page per question reached page one and AI answers faster than a broad catalogue would.
- Plain facts and specifications get quoted. Delivery windows, a price floor and lens measurements were repeated almost word for word.
- Fresh pages can work quickly. Pages dated 27 September, 4 October and 11 October were all being cited within days.
- Local trust does real work. A 5.0 rating from 63 reviews sits next to the rankings and inside Google’s answer, and copy alone cannot do that job.
- Marketplaces are beatable on narrow searches. Jumia and Jiji hold the top spots on Google, yet brands and sellers below them were passed on several searches.
- Judge AI traffic by engagement, not only volume. Twenty-six sessions is small, but visitors who arrive from an assistant stayed twice as long as the average visitor.
- Track orders, not only rankings. Order attribution turned a ChatGPT recommendation into something a shop owner can count.
- Give buyers a second way to complete the order. When payment would not go through at checkout, WhatsApp let the sale continue, according to the founder.
- Measure from day one. The missing baseline is the main weakness of this study.
The principles behind these lessons are explained in how to get cited by ChatGPT and AI citation versus AI recommendation. For a second case, read how LAGE Lightings went from seventh to first in ChatGPT.
Could your business get the same result?
Possibly. Nobody can honestly promise a ranking or a recommendation, because AI answers change from run to run and depend on how strong the competition is. What can be repeated is the method, and you can start it this week:
- List the ten questions a buyer asks before choosing you. Include the doubting ones: is it genuine, will it reach my city, what does it really cost?
- Give each question one page that answers it in the first two sentences, with prices, times and measurements in plain text.
- Make your facts identical everywhere: your site, Google Business Profile, social bios and listings.
- Run the same questions in ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and Google in a logged-out window and record each answer with the date.
- Switch on order or lead-source tracking so a recommendation shows up in your numbers, not only in a screenshot.
Want to see where you stand first? The free AI visibility audit scans your site and checks what AI assistants say about you. If you want the work done for you, Vatam’s published prices are on the pricing page: foundation builds start at $390 one-time and growth retainers at $290 a month. Or tell me what you want to be found for.

Frequently asked questions
Can a new business really get recommended by ChatGPT?
In this case, yes. Lens & Co by Tiara, a young Lagos eyewear store, was listed first in 5 of 6 ChatGPT answers captured on 10 and 12 October 2026, about two weeks after it began publishing. It is one case, AI answers vary from run to run, and nobody can guarantee a recommendation.
How long did it take Lens & Co to appear in ChatGPT and Google?
Content began going live on 27 September 2026 and most of it was published by 8 October. By the checks on 10 October the store was on Google page one for four searches and first of five stores in ChatGPT, and further checks on 12 October added more ChatGPT and Google AI Overview answers. Treat it as one fast case, not a timetable.
Did Lens & Co reach page one of Google?
Yes, for all four searches checked on 10 October 2026. It was 5th for blue light glasses in Lagos, 4th for screen glasses in Lagos, 5th for the price of photochromic glasses in Nigeria and 4th for where to get photochromic glasses in Nigeria.
Does ChatGPT recommend Lens & Co by Tiara?
In the six answers captured, ChatGPT named it every time and listed it first five times: best stores for blue light and photochromic glasses, original rather than fake glasses, prescription glasses, nationwide delivery and best online eyewear stores in Lagos. In a sixth answer, about eye strain, it came second behind an eye clinic. The answers were run from a signed-in account and can change between runs.
Do Google AI Overviews mention Lens & Co by Tiara?
Yes. In six searches checked on 10 and 12 October 2026, Google’s AI Overview named the store in all six and named it first in four. Its own pages appeared as source cards in five of them, and one overview recommended its ANCHOR and KYRIE frames by name. The new captures were made from a signed-in Google account in Lagos.
Is ChatGPT sending customers to Lens & Co by Tiara?
Yes, in a small way so far. In the store’s WooCommerce orders list on 12 October 2026, 2 of the 9 most recent orders had an origin of chatgpt.com. One was processing. The other shows as cancelled because payment would not go through at checkout, and the founder says that buyer completed the order on WhatsApp. Order attribution is last-click and some ChatGPT visits are recorded as Direct, so this is a floor rather than a total, and a few days of orders is too small a window to measure ChatGPT’s share of revenue.
How many visitors does ChatGPT send to Lens & Co by Tiara?
In the 28 days to 11 October 2026, Google Analytics 4 recorded 26 sessions in its AI Assistant channel out of 1,104 in total (2.36%). That channel groups visits from assistants such as ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude, and the sessions began on 1 October when tracking started. Those visitors engaged at 50%, against 41.58% for all traffic, and stayed 1 minute 53 seconds, against 56 seconds.
Does Claude cite Lens & Co?
Yes. Across 38 checks recorded since 29 September, Claude cited it 8 times, a rate of 21%. Almost all checks used one keyword, so coverage is narrow.
What did the work on the Lens & Co site involve?
One page for every search a buyer might type, built to answer it in the first sentences, with delivery, price and lens facts in plain text, internal links between guides and category pages, and steady measurement. It produced 54 published pages and 104 products, with AmasoAI tracking 55 searches. This is a Vatam project, and I work in growth for AmasoAI.
Do I need to rank on Google before ChatGPT or Google AI Overviews recommend me?
Not necessarily as a rule. Google says its AI features have no special requirements beyond being indexed and eligible to show with a snippet, so good search groundwork matters. In this case page one and AI mentions arrived together, so the study cannot separate them.
What questions should my website answer to get recommended by AI?
The ones buyers ask before they choose: best places to buy, whether the product is genuine, whether it suits their needs, whether it is delivered to their city, what it really costs and what to do about a worry. In this study, trust, prescription, delivery and best-store questions each produced an answer naming the store.
How do I check what AI says about my business?
Write ten buyer questions, run each in ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and Google in a logged-out window, and record the answer, the order of the names and the date. Repeat monthly. Single answers vary, so look for patterns across runs and people.
Will AI recommendations turn into sales?
Early evidence says they can. Two of the nine most recent orders in the store’s WooCommerce list were attributed to ChatGPT, and AI-assistant visitors engaged at 50% against 41.58% for all traffic. It is a few days of data, so ChatGPT’s share of revenue is not yet measurable.
Can you guarantee I will be first in ChatGPT?
No, and nobody honestly can. AI answers differ between runs, users and accounts. What can be promised is a clear method, pages built around buyer questions, consistent facts and dated measurement, so you can see what moves.
Does this work for service businesses, not just online shops?
The method is the same: one page per question, plain facts, consistent details and proof. This case is a Nigerian online store, and a lighting brand reached first place in ChatGPT with a similar approach. Results depend on competition and how fast you publish.
How much does it cost to do this for my business?
Vatam starts with a free AI visibility audit. Its published prices, in US dollars, are foundation builds from $390 one-time, growth retainers from $290 a month and single items such as an answer-first article at $80. Each scope is agreed in writing before work starts.
Will these rankings and AI answers stay the same?
Not necessarily. Google positions and AI answers both move, so treat them as dated snapshots from 10 to 12 October 2026.
What are the best places to buy blue light glasses in Nigeria?
ChatGPT and Google named Lens & Co by Tiara, Mint Eyewear, BaaWA Accessories and Jumia among others, depending on the question. Compare lens options, delivery times, reviews and whether the seller can verify its claims before buying, and get an eye test if your vision may need correcting.
